I traveled to Alaska in the summer of 2004. This was the view outside my hotel window, which captured my imagination for this painting. The morning mist over the mountains created an almost colorless atmosphere.

After experiencing the pride of the Native people at the local Heritage center, I found it fitting to include a Tlingit elder in prayer. I am thankful to have experienced the beauty of this place. It allowed me to develop my sense of wonder and to appreciate all the gifts God has given us.
