I was struck by the magical beauty of a passing pod of killer whales which I saw off a fishing charter. We were south of Port Renfrew, Vancouver Island, at the mouth of the Juan De Fuca Strait. The afternoon sun, softened by clouds, colored the sky, and was reflected in the water. It made my viewing of the pod of killer whales that much more beautiful and magical in my memory. About
